David Halat
David was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, where he also completed his undergraduate studies at Montana State University. His fascination with NMR spectroscopy grew during his PhD studies at the University of Cambridge, UK, where he had the freedom to explore this field and acquire far too many oxygen-17 (17O) solid-state NMR spectra. After his PhD, he took up a postdoctoral appointment at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Now a PI, David is focused on pushing the boundaries of magnetic resonance methods and instructing the next generation of researchers in interdisciplinary work. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, hiking, and exploring amateur radio.
